Brief Introduction of the Department

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology was established in 1961. At present there are six Professor and One Medical Officer till date the Department has awarded Two Ph.D. and 208 MD/MS Degree. The present Faculty members have published four books and three hundred scientific papers in national and international journals.

The department is actively involved in Social Obstetrics, Family Planning, Cancer prevention, Maternal and child Health Care, Adolescent and Geriatric Gynaecology, HIV and AIDS Prevention and Reproductive Medicine.

The faculty members are actively involved in educating the masses through Radio talks, Camps and Health Melas.

The Department holds many Training workshops, seminars, CMEs, Conferences Sattellite symposiums from time to time. Trained 840 medical officers of UP on Contraceptive Technology and 95 Medical Officers on IUCD under SIFPSA Project.

Trained Medical Officers, Nurses and Paramedical Staff of UP on Prevention of AIDS and STDs under NACO, UPSAC and UNICEF Training programmes.

Trained Medical Officers of UP under UPHSDP on various aspects of Obstetrics.

Currently Training the Doctors on MCH care under IGNOU programme.

From time to time all the faculty members have visited various centers in India and abroad and have obtained specialized Training in various aspects of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
